 2023 SSUN Annual Conference
Social Sciences and Data Science

Call for Presentations

We invite you to take part in our upcoming February 27th - March 2nd, 2023 Conference, “Social Sciences and Data Science,” organized by the Social Sciences Universities Network (SSUN) and hosted by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We aim to bring together practitioners, decision-makers, scientists, and scholars from SSUN to discuss some of the most pressing issues in the Social Sciencestoday.

Conference General Theme: Social Sciences and Data Science

Computational approaches to data analysis, pedagogical innovation, and Digital Humanities projects occupy the center of attention in Social Sciences Programs. Promoting intersections between Data Science and the Humanities is a pressing challenge, especially regarding the scalability of data-intensive projects. Text mining and corpora studies, artificial intelligence and machine learning, GIS and spatial analysis, databases for historical research, and other computational methods have been incorporated into Social Science courses and GLAM institutions (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums). Globally, there is a cry for exchanging lessons learned and best practices.

The congress will be open, however, to proposals related to other topics in the Social Sciences.

SSUN welcomes submissions by scholars of all member institutions. We ask for abstracts of presentations of no more than twenty minutes before November 20th, 2022, via the online form available here.

We will have a final response to the proposal by the beginning of December, and an extended abstract of the presentation shall be submitted by February 15, 2023.
