General purpose:
To educate high-level professionals up-to-date with the methodological and epistemological debates that characterize the field of History and Social Sciences, focusing on the historical dimension of social phenomena and the adoption of an interdisciplinary perspective. These professionals are expected to be inserted in national and international knowledge production networks, considered fundamental for both the quality of academic production and for the qualification of educators working at different levels of education, especially the higher level.

Specific objectives:

• To set up research groups that include the faculty, students and external participants, such as postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate students, in order to establish a connection with the national and international academic community;
• To prepare good-quality master's theses and doctoral dissertations that may support the production of knowledge in the fields of History and Social Sciences;
• To promote events to attract the academic community in general and to promote discussion around current themes connected with historiographical debates and topics of interest to the society at large;
• To serve as a cluster of researchers, attracting postdoctoral researchers;
• To support and encourage students to participate in research programs abroad through exchange scholarships;
• To promote constant improvements to the academic profile of the Program through regular self-assessments that allow improving the operating structure, the indicators of intellectual production and, above all, renewing the institutional commitment to the graduate programs of CPDOC.
