The Social Sciences & History School of FGV merged with its Centre for Historical Research (CPDOC) to produce one of Brazil's leading centres for teaching and research in the country. Our School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, and provides a range of continuing education activities. As holders of major archives our collection includes over 1,5 million documents ranging from politics to economics, cultural history to social movements, and public policy to foreign relations.

Over the years we have also gathered a massive set of oral histories with politicians, diplomats, the military, social activists, and scholars. We are committed to offering swift access to our materials and are moving fast towards making all data available online. This has includes innovative work in applying IT to the management of archives and public outreach. For early results see http://www.fgv.br/cpdoc.
We are a community of active researches that consciously seek to bridge the gap between the Social Sciences and History.
